Team 461: Invading, Hearts, Minds, and Communities

The technical and logistical aspects of constructing a robot are significant in the FIRST Robotics Competition; however, fulfilling the core goals of FIRST, including outreach, are by far more important. The Chairman’s Award is annually presented to the team that best exemplifies the values of FIRST.

In 2010, Westside Boiler Invasion looked back at its name and focused on its increased efforts to "invade" in its school, community, and state. The paper also recalls the team’s founding principles and how they line up with the goals of FIRST. The essay also discusses how the team has prepared itself to invade.
