Overview
WBI has organized a comprehensive scouting system during the following 2007 season competitions:
-
The St. Louis Regional
-
The Boilermaker Regional
-
The Championship Event
Type of information collected
-
Pit Data - 461 scouts divide the team list amongst themselves and then go to each team's pit to collect data on what their robot can theoretically do. Each robot is assigned an overall rank in terms of their synergy with Rowdy pete 8.0. This occurs on Thursday.
-
Robot Photos - The scouts, while interviewing teams about their robots, take several pictures of the robots, focusing on robot arms, ramps, lifts, etc., depending on what is identified as the strength of the robot. This is also done entirely on Thursday.
-
Match Data - Armed with clipboards and premade scouting forms, around seven scouts view each match. Each scout is assigned to a particular robot each match and fills out the scouting form, evaluating the team's performance in that match in several categories. This happens during qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday.
