2008 Scouting

Overview

WBI has organized a easily understood scouting system for the following 2008 season competitions:

• Boilermaker Regional
• Great Lakes Regional
• Championship Event

Type of Information Collected

• Pit Data-WBI scouts disperse through the pits with a list of teams and collect data of what their robot can theoretically do. This happens on Thursdays.

• Robot Photos-While interviewing teams in the pits, scouts take several pictures of robots focusing on arms, lifts, shooters, etc., depends on what is identified as the robot's strength. This is done almost entirely on Thursday, and completed early on Friday if necessary.

• Match Data-A team of about six scouters assemble in the stands armed with clipboards and pre-made forms each match. Each scout is assigned a particular robot each match and evaluates the team's performance in that match in several categories. This occurs during the qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday.
